Research Lab is an important military building in Last Asylum Plague. It unlocks at Sanctuary level 7, and you also need to unlock Dense Forest 14 before you can build it. It lets you unlock and upgrade different sciences across several research trees that open as you upgrade the Research Lab.
This building is also required to upgrade your Sanctuary to the next level, so you need to keep the Research Lab at the same level as your Sanctuary before you can upgrade the Sanctuary further, especially from level 12 onward.
The following are the requirements for unlocking research trees in the Research Lab:
- Development: Research Lab Level 1
- Economy: Research Lab Level 1
- Hero: Research Lab Level 5
- Soldier: Research Lab Level 6
- Squad 1 to 4: Research Lab Level 8
- Alliance Duel: Research Lab Level 10
- Full Development: Research Lab Level 13 (Development → Extra Training Grounds Lv.1. That node is Lab 13 and needs Training Specialization III Lv.2 and Quick Bandage III Lv.2 (those sit behind Research Upgrade II). First node: Rapid Construction III)
- Prosperous Economy: Research Lab Level 13 (Economy → Herb Protection I Lv.1 (Lab 13). Grain/Timber Output IV are tagged Lab 12 but cannot start until Herb Protection I is done)
- Caravan Transport: Research Lab Level 15
- Elite Troop: Research Lab Level 20 (First node HP Boost I is tagged Lab 15, but it also requires Alliance Duel → Top Rewards Lv.1. Top Rewards needs Lab 20, Arena Expert Lv.20, Training Points Lv.6, and Kill Points Lv.6)
- Defensive Tactics: Research Lab Level 20
- Offensive Tactics: Research Lab Level 21
- Warrior, Ranger, Warlock Mastery: Research Lab Level 30
